At the 10th Asian Nonwovens Technology Exhibition, Indian Textile Minister Giriraj Singh highlighted the need for innovation in the fields of agriculture, health, hygiene and filtration for nonwovens. He said that nonwovens technology is not limited to the health sector, but will also revolutionize the agricultural sector in the future. Singh firmly believes that this industry will be the future of India and promised that the government will provide all possible support for the development of the industry.
In particular, Singh focused on several innovative products, including milkworth-based nonwovens and biodegradable baby hygiene products.
India recently interacted with the beneficiaries of the PLI program in the textile industry, and almost 30-40% of the beneficiaries were from the nonwovens sector, with 5-6 companies producing products such as baby wipes and diapers. Today, India sells domestic diapers and baby wipes in the local market.
